Hand Thrown Decorative Raku Bowl, Unique Ceramic Bowl, Handmade Ceramic Bowl Size: 4.75 inches tall, 8.75 inches wide This is a phenomenal decorative raku bowl perfect for a table centerpiece, bookshelf decoration, or any nook that needs attention. Perfect for potpourri, niknaks, and daily use items such as car keys. This bowl was thrown on the wheel, altered, and then I use a variety of handmade stamps to enhance the rich surface. Balancing vibrant colors with a quiet, earthy power this handmade raku bowl is very satisfying. This bowl is not food safe, especially for liquids. Wrapped food such as candy or even fruit would be fine. Traditional tea bowls are often made using raku firing but I do not recommend using my raku pots for food. Raku firing involves taking a ceramic work out of the kiln at 1900 degrees with metal tongs and carefully placing the pottery in a chamber full of combustibles like newspaper and sawdust. The pottery immediately is surrounded in flames that react with the metals in the glaze to create wonderful effects that only raku firing can produce.
